Welcome to the Summer edition of Energy Panorama. We’ve rolled July and August into one. We are pleased to share this month’s featured report derived from our Ecuador Energy Roundtable. We would like to also reiterate our gratitude to Minister of Energy Carlos Perez and his entire team for their support and participation at the Roundtable at the end of July.
As August flies by, we are busy finalizing plans together with our partners IPD Latin America for the inaugural Madrid Energy Conference set for Sep 4-6.
Spain’s Secretary of Energy, Jose Dominguez Abascal, will offer the opening keynote address followed by a series of high-level panels contemplating the Europe-Latin America energy nexus against the backdrop of the global energy transformation. We look forward to seeing you at this important new addition to the Institute of the Americas program and activity calendar.
We hosted two webinars in recent weeks, the first an update and discussion with Mexico’s ASEA Director Luis Vera on methane emissions reduction regulations. We were also pleased to host the General Counsel of OPEC, Leonardo Sempertegui. He shared his organization’s views and insights on the global energy transition. Leonardo Sempertegui will also be a featured speaker at the Madrid Energy Conference.
We have been closely following Argentina and contributed a commentary for the Inter-American Dialogue’s Energy Advisor on elections and energy policy.
Energy Transition Initiative Director Cecilia Aguillon spent time in El Salvador briefing new energy policy makers and sharing regional renewable energy lessons learned at a conference in San Salvador. Energy Policy Associate Jacqueline Sanchez continued her work on issues related to women in energy and recounted her participation and experience at a DOE and APEC energy forum and training session in Singapore. She also heads to Mexico City to participate in women in energy discussions this month.
We look forward to seeing you on Sep 4-6 in Madrid, Spain.
