Energy Panorama February 2024

February Panorama

Welcome to the February edition of Energy Panorama.

We are pleased to announce the launch of Future Energy Leaders, a landmark initiative of the Energy & Sustainability Program that further leverages our location on the UCSD campus and our desire to foster the next generation of energy experts.

Thanks to the generous support of esteemed philanthropists, Johan Gerretsen (a former energy executive at Solar Turbines) and Theodore Gildred III (IOA Board Member and son of the Institute’s founder), we have cultivated a dynamic and meaningful connection with the next generation of trailblazers in the energy sector.

If you share our passion for fostering academic excellence and enhancing the foundation for future energy leaders, we would like to extend an invitation to join us on this transformative journey.

For those who may have missed our January Panorama, be sure to check out 2024 Energy Outlook: A New World Order?

The outlook includes perspectives from our distinguished group of Non-Resident Fellows and — in line with our Future Energy Leaders efforts – also features contributions from three second-year UC San Diego School of Global Policy & Strategy graduate students – Anne Charles, Tamara Handfas and Angela Solanilla.

Stay tuned next month for a brief on natural gas and solving energy poverty by Warren Levy, CEO of Mexican firm Jaguar EP. Jaguar was a sponsor and Warren spoke at the XXXII La Jolla Energy Conference last October. The brief expands upon his remarks at the conference.

Also, this month, our Non-Resident Fellow, Chris Sladen, responded to readers’ questions in his latest his ANZMEX Energy Matters essay “Fast and Furious.”

On March 15, we are pleased to collaborate again with our Steering Committee member Sproule on a webinar Leveraging Potential – Latin America and the Caribbean Energy Outlook coinciding with the release of their annual regional outlook report.

Don’t forget to mark your calendars for the 5th edition of the Madrid Energy Conference set for April 9-11. Early bird registration ends today, February 28!
